The challenge

Poultry processors need a repeatable way to prepare chickens and ducks for plucking without relying on manual temperature checks or uneven scalding.

Our response

KNA developed a gas-fired stainless steel scalder with PT100 temperature sensing and a REX-C100 controller to hold the water at the selected temperature. A gear-and-chain agitator creates gentle water movement that helps open feather follicles and shortens plucking preparation time.

Technical configuration

  1. 01water tank - stainless steel plate
  2. 02agitator - stainless steel plate
  3. 03hopper - stainless steel plate
  4. 04support frame - stainless steel hollow section
  5. 05transmission - gear and chain
  6. 06drain - 1.5 in
  7. 07drive - 1/2 HP geared motor
  8. 08temperature sensor - PT100
  9. 09temperature controller - REX-C100
  10. 10actuation - electric igniter and electric gas valve
  11. 11burner - gas

Results Achieved

The machine delivers repeatable poultry scalding for chickens and ducks, with more consistent water temperature, easier feather removal, and a production capacity of up to 100 birds per day.
